The Gucci Tribeca Documentary Fund provides finishing funds to feature-length documentaries which highlight and humanize issues of social importance from around the world. Funded films are driven by thoughtful and in-depth storytelling, bolstered by a compelling visual approach.

OVERVIEW

As mainstream media moves away from in-depth coverage of domestic and global social issues, documentaries have become an important and much needed tool to draw attention to these contemporary international conflicts. At the same time, the craft of the documentary is expanding in exciting directions, merging diverse points of view with new technologies and responding to the immediacy of the Internet.

FILMS

In its fifth year, the Gucci Tribeca Documentary Fund will provide funding to feature-length documentaries that highlight and humanize issues of social importance from around the world. Funded films will be driven by thoughtful and in-depth storytelling, bolstered by a compelling visual approach.
For a second year, the PPR Corporate Foundation for Women’s Dignity & Rights has joined the Gucci Tribeca Documentary Fund to offer the Spotlighting Women Documentary Award, which will annually provide funding to two-five additional feature documentaries that illuminate the courage, compassion, extraordinary strength of character and contributions of women from around the world.
Eligible films for the Gucci Fund and the Spotlighting Women Documentary Award challenge the status quo not just as it pertains to subject matter, but also in form. Films should also be able to exist on multiple distribution platforms and resonate with a wide audience. We are seeking feature-length documentaries that are in advanced development, production or post-production with the intended premiere exhibition date after June 2012.

FUNDING

In 2012 the Tribeca Film Institute, through its Gucci Tribeca Documentary Fund, will offer grants ranging from $10,000 - $25,000. Fund recipients will be announced by June 2012.
In addition, each grantee will receive unique guidance and consultation from the Tribeca Film Institute that will ensure each film enters the marketplace in the best possible position.

SELECTION PROCESS

Films will be selected from an open call for submissions. Weight will be given to projects that best fulfill the mission of the program (as shown in the submitted work and the strength of proposal) and to those where granting amounts will have significant impact. Selection will be done by Tribeca Film Institute staff and a final selection committee comprised of notable talents in the field.

SUBMISSION RULES AND ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

In order to qualify for the Gucci Tribeca Documentary Fund, entrants must comply with ALL of the following Rules and Eligibility Requirements. Failure to comply with these rules will render a submission ineligible.
  • Submitted projects must have an intended final running time of at least 70 minutes and should creatively depict subjects and issues that promote social change.
  • Submissions must be in the stages of advanced development, production or post-production and must not have aired on any form of television, been screened publicly or have been distributed in theaters or via the Internet before June 2012. Submitted films must show enough footage to highlight unique access and storytelling ability.
  • Foreign language documentaries are eligible, but must be subtitled and suitable for an American audience.
  • Applicants must be over 18-years old; however, student films and documentary short films are not eligible for submission.
  • Applicants will be notified by June 2012 if their films are awarded funding or not.
All submissions must include the following:
  • Applicants must complete the online application form and upload a thorough proposal.
    • A project description outlining the form and style of the film.
    • Bios of filmmaker(s) and key crew members.
    • Contact information for key crew members.
    • A concise timeline explaining the sequence of steps required for the completion of the eligible film.
    • A budget top-sheet
    • A specific request for funding, including a detailed description of how this money will be used towards the completion of the film. Requested funds must be reasonable. The Selection Committee will determine the actual amount awarded to Fund recipients.
    • Outreach strategy for the film, if applicable.
  • Applicants must submit footage no shorter than 7 minutes (an extended trailer, scene assemblage and/or a rough cut of the project). These can be submitted on DVD’s or through embedded links attached to the application.
  • If you are submitting DVDs, you must provide 2 copies. Label the DVDs with submission number, project title, running time and applicant’s name.DVDs must be in NTSC format and for Zone 0 and 1. Please do not send previous work with your submission.
  • Submissions must be shipped pre-paid, including any duties or customs fees.
  • The Tribeca Film Institute will make every effort to safe-guard the materials submitted; however, TFI is not responsible for lost or stolen submissions. Submissions will not be returned.

There is no entry fee for projects submitted to the Gucci Tribeca Documentary Fund.

카메라의 움직임 카메라 워크는 카메라 몸체의 이동과 위치의 이동 그리고 렌즈의 이동으로 구분하는데 몸체의 이동은 수직, 수평 등 고정된 촬영 자세에서 카메라 몸체만을 변화시켜 촬영하는 것을 말하며, 움직이는 피사체를 따라가면서 촬영하거나 혹은그 주위를 돌면서 촬영하는 것은 위치의 이동이라 한다. 또한 카메라의 줌렌즈를 이용하여 광각에서 망원 그리고 망원에서 광각으로 피사체의 상을 이동시키는 것을 렌즈의 이동이라 한다. 따라서 이 세가지의 카메라 워크를 이용하여 각종 촬영 테크닉을 구사하게 되는 것이다. 1. 팬(PAN) 팬은 "파노라믹 뷰잉(Panoramic viewing)"의 약칭으로 풍경을 파노라마 적으로 촬영하는 것을 말한다. 팬은 카메라 위치는 고정되고 앵글만 좌에서 우로, 우에서 좌로 촬영하는 기법이다. 그리고 피사체에 대해서 어떤 고정시점으로부터 카메라를 수평으로 회전시키는 카메라 워크를 말한다. 팬도 카메라가 회전하는 방향에 다라 Pan right 와 Pan left 가 있는데 Pan right 는 앵글을 좌에서 우로 촬영하는 기법이고, Pan left는 앵글을 우에서 좌로 촬영하는 기법이다. 일반적으로 우리나라에서는 좌에서 우로 많이 사용하는데 책을 읽을 때의 시각적 습성에 기준을 두기 때문이다.  Slow Panning: 어떤 피사체로부터 다른 피사체로 천천히 움직이는 방법 Fast Panning: 어떤 피사체로 부터 다른 피사체로 빠르게 움직이는 방법 Pan의 목적 기본적으로 넓은 풍경 등을 연속적으로 보여 주고자 할 때 사용한다. 동물원의 짐승과 감상하는 사람들처럼 피사체간의 관계나 대비를 보이는데 목적이 있다. 인물과 인물과의 관계 묘사를 할 때 사용하는데 둘을 연결하는 인간관계를 표현 할 때 또는 집단 결속을 암시할 때 사용한다. 수평 방향에 여러 개의 피사체가 있고 위치 관계나 배치 관계를 한 컷으로 연속적으로 표현 할 때 사용한다. 광장처럼 넓...

화면구성 1. 화면사이즈에 의한 샷의 종류 효과적인 영상표현이란 무엇을 보여주기 보다는 어떻게 보여주는가에 좌우된다고 할 수 있다. 따라서 영상표현은 감각에만 의존할 것이 아니라 정적인 물체를 촬영하거나 동적인 물체를 촬영할 때 필요한 기본적인 미학적 지식을 갖추어야 한다. 우리가 화면을 구성할 경우 피사체의 크기, 피사체와 공간의 비율 등 많은 부분에서 고민 을 하게 되는데 화면은 시청자들의 감정적인 만족과 심리적 효과를 이용하여 흐름을 유지 하므로 화면의 기본사이즈에 대해서는 자세히 알아두어야 한다. 샷(shot) 이란  텔레비전 드라마나 다큐멘터리, 영화등 모든 영상제작에서 촬영할 때 끊지 않고 한번에 찍는 영상의 기본단위를 샷이라고 한다. 샷은 크게 두가지 형태로 구분되어진다. 가) 풍경이나 정물 촬영시 분류  샷은 일반적으로 롱샷(원경), 미디움샷(중경), 클로즈업샷(근경)으로 구분된다. 이러한 구분은 상대적인 구분으로 즉 테마가 아주 작은 곤충을 대상으로 하는 영상이라면 그 곤 충의 주변의 상황이 롱샷(Long Shot)이 될 것이고 테마가 대형 경기장 같은 것 이라면 헬 기에서 잡은 경기장 주변의 영상이 (롱Long Shot)샷이 될 것이다. 풀샷 F.S:Full Shot (필름 촬영시에는 롱샷으로 불림 L.S:Long Shot) 카메라를 대상으로부터 멀게 하거나, 광각렌즈를 사용하여 얻어지는 shot을 말한다. 전체적인 주변의 상황과 주변의 자연속에서 만들어지는 정서감 심리적인 표현에 적합한 사이즈다. 주로 촬영주체와의 관계 위치 등을 설명하는 수단으로 도입부와 종결부에서 많 이 사용한다. 나) 인물을 중심으로 한 화면사이즈  실제로 촬영시 화면을 인물이 차지하는 경우가 대부분 이므로 인물을 구성하는 올바른 방 법을 알고 촬영하는 것은 대단히 중요하다. 인물을 중심으로 한 샷(Shot) 종류 Big Close Up Shot(B.C.U) ...

영상촬영기법1

촬영의 기본 기본촬영 자세의 여러가지 카메라맨의 기본자세는 촬영의 기초가 되는 아주 중요한 것이므로 처음부터 정확한 자세를 익혀 바른 촬영 습관이 몸에 베일 수 있도록 노력하여야 한다.처음부터 잘못 들인 습관은 차후 수정할 때는 많은 노력이 필요하고 잘 고쳐지지도 않으므로 처음부터 올바른 습관을 갖도록 기본부터 잘 다져야한다.     기본 촬영자세      기본적인 촬영 요령  먼저 다리를 어깨 보폭만큼 자연스럽게 벌리고 발은 11자 자세로 선다. 카메라의 몸체 뒷부분을 어깨에 걸치고 오른손으로 핸드 그릴을 가볍게 잡는다. 이때손에 힘이 너무 들어가면 카메라의 스타트 스톱 조작시 흔들리기 쉽다.  오른쪽 팔꿈치는 가슴 안쪽으로 붙이고 안정점을 만든다.  왼쪽 팔은 45도 각도의 자연스런 자세를 유지하되, 손은 카메라의 포커스 링을 가볍게잡고 있어야 한다.  왼쪽 눈을 뜨고 오른쪽 눈은 뷰 파인더의 아이 캡에 접촉시킨다. 눈은 카메라를 안정시키는 중요한 지점이 되므로 습관적으로 뷰 파인더에 눈을 대고 찍는 것이 좋다.  아래 배에 힘을 준다. 몸의 전체를 곧게 세우고 몸의 중심점이 중앙이 되게 한다.  픽스 샷이나 줌인의 경우는 호흡을 일시적으로 정지 시킨다. 그러나 긴 샷의 경우는 숨을 조금씩 들이쉬면서 촬영하는 것이 내쉬면서 촬영하는 것보다 효과적이다.  6mm나 8mm등의 소형 카메라인 경우 양 팔꿈치를 가슴에 가볍게 대고,뷰파인더의 높이가 눈높이보다 약간 낮은 자세가 되게 한다.     서서 촬영하는 ...
